So even though The Boyfriend let me sleep in until 11, and even though I went back down for a nap at 2:30, I am purely exhausted today. I literally just want to go back down to bed and sleep and do nothing else.

I hope that all the desire to sleep is just something to do with stress, and nothing more. Looks like Mama T will be coming over next week to help me do some of the cleaning around here, since it’s seriously gotten so out of control. I hate that I’m a 23-year-old woman who still needs her Mommy to come help her clean. But I can’t deny that I need the help.

Had to yell at the kids outside again today, this time for taking some sort of metal tool and smashing crap in the yard, and hitting the balconies with it. I went out and just yelled, “Go somewhere else!”, they ran. I’ve decided that the next time the kids are in the yard, and they’re ruining it in a way that will get me in trouble with my landlords, I’m just gonna go out there and be like, “Hey, can you take me to your parents?”, and then I’m gonna go and ask their parents nicely to try to keep their kids out of my yard. I can’t risk getting evicted because a bunch of young kids don’t know boundaries.

I need to start leaving my house every once and awhile… I’m starting to feel very isolated from the world. When I do leave the house, it’s just to go to Mama T’s, which isn’t really broadening my horizons, being that she lives a hop, skip and a jump away. I can’t wait until we get the van fixed (fingers crossed), so that we, as a family, can go places together. I can’t wait to start doing our walks again, especially now that we found the tandem stroller.

They’ll be no telling Keirnan to constantly speed up, because if he gets to slow, we can just put him in the stroller. And Carter likes the stroller, so that’s no problem. And there’s probably so many places around here, that we haven’t even begun to explore. I can’t wait for our first Edmonton Family Trip, like we’ve been talking about since Kaeidyn was born. I’m hoping this summer will be as fun as the last…

This morning, I woke up and got ready to take Kaeidyn to school.  I had completely forgotten that it was St. Patrick’s Day and that she was supposed to wear green to school today. Fortunately, I had made her wear her camo pants today (which she claims are boy pants, but I don’t care, because she looks adorable in them ;)), which had green in them.

So then I walk her into her classroom, like I do every Wednesday (the only day of the week that I’m in charge of taking her to and from school), and all the shoes on the indoor shoe shelf have all been moved to different spots, which just confused the heck out of her. Then she walked further into her class.

Well apparently, a leprechaun came into the room and trashed it. Markers were flung across the room, chairs at the tables were flipped upside down. This, of course, made Kaeidyn incredibly excited. For the rest of the day, when anything moved from one position to another, it was because of the leprechaun.

It was a gorgeous day here today. Warm enough that I comfortably went outside with a sweater, which is saying alot, being that I’m normally the one whose always cold, even when everyone else is complaining they’re hot. I’ve been going through summer withdrawal mighty hard after the awesome summer we had last year, so immediately I had an urge to go for a walk.

For the first time, in what’s felt like forever, Kaeidyn, Kenzie, Keirnan, Carter, The Boyfriend and I all went to the part. It’s been along time since we’ve been able to leave the house, all at one time, all together (Man, I hope we get a bigger vehicle really soon!). We all went over to Kaeidyn’s school to play at the park, which we’ve been promising her we were going to do forever.

We didn’t stay too long, because the wind picked up about 15 minutes after we left the house, and Carter was only in the Snugli, so it was pretty chilly for him after awhile. I was surprised at how easily all the kids were to get off the park. I told them, “One more time down the slide”, so they each took their turn, and we walked home.

Kaeidyn noticed a messy yard, and tried convincing us all the way home that it was the leprechauns. Then when we got home, the kids got to play outside for quite awhile. Keirnan was the first to come in, complaining of cold hands. I guess that’s what he gets for  playing in the puddles. Kenzie was the next one in. I think he just wanted to take his pants off.

We had him doing so good, wearing underwear or pants. Now though, it’s almost impossible. He’s also constantly grabbing at himself, like it’s a newly discovered toy. I don’t want to scare him away from touching himself, so we tell him to go downstairs to his bedroom or the bathroom to play with himself, because that’s just what you do. He’ll normally get upset when he’s told this, and I’m not sure why.

Kaeidyn stayed outside the longest, because she’s met a couple kids on the street that she likes. I’m personally, not fond of many of the kids on our street. We had the cops come to talk to all the kids that were out on the street, not paying attention to oncoming cars. Today, some little kid was swinging a stick around in the middle of the street trying to smash snow piles, and a van came up behind him and was waiting forever, even after honking, for him to move out of the street. And a bunch of the kids are like that.

I’ve had the kids from this street dig holes in my yard, draw on my house, and throw pine cones at the car. And frankly, I’m getting quite sick of it. The good thing though, is that my kids know to stay in the yard. They get one warning after stepping one foot off the sidewalk in front of the house.

Keirnan was talking up a storm today on our walk, asking questions, telling us what he was doing. He saw a school bus and started yelling out bus clear as day. As a mom, I’m always wanting my kids to grow up and become independent. With Keirnan, I’m always like, “I wish he would hurry up and talk already”, with Carter, “I can’t wait until he starts crawling”. Kaeidyn is was walking and Kenzie it was talking to (because he had the annoying “eh, eh” thing that Keirnan’s just starting to get out of). Then it happens, and I’m all like, “Oh, my babies are growing up so fast. Why can’t they just be babies again?” I guess it’s just another one of those vicious circles.

I’ve spent the last two days pretty much curled up on the couch watching TV, because I’ve been in an incredible amount of pain. The pharmacist warned me that the pills I’m on could cause me to have some stomach upset. The last two days, all my stomach upset has been right underneath of my ribs, much like the pain I had when I passed gallstones (or at least, that’s the best the doctor’s could figure), just much milder. Then, to top that all off, my knees, back and neck are all hurting as bad as they did when I was pregnant with Carter. I wanna blame it on the meds…

Well, Carter’s awake, so I better go and feed him. I think I caught up on everything I had planned to 😉

Yesterday, Alfie took the kids overnight. The Boyfriend had to work last night, so I stayed up as late as I could so that I could sleep in with him in the morning. We slept until almost 3 PM, and it was such a good sleep. The only thing that sucked about my sleep at all, was around 9 AM, Goober showed up and starting tapping on the door. He hung out around the outside of the house until we woke up at 3.

At about 4:30, we picked up the kids. They were so good tonight. Kenzie fell asleep on the couch, played about 20 minutes of games before bed, and then went to bed with ease. Kaeidyn was really good and all she really cared about was that we were both wearing pants underneath our dresses and that I cleaned her ears.

I was trying to get Keirnan to copy me saying everyone’s name. He is so lazy about it. Kaeidyn is “aiyan”, Kenzie is “ehzie”, Carter is “cah”. He’s been trying to copy everybody with talking, and it just doesn’t seem to be working out for him at all.

Carter slept with us all day, waking up a couple times and just playing in between The Boyfriend and I. Then when we got out of bed, he was in such an incredible mood. Laughing and talking. The Boyfriend thinks he’s starting to say Mama, and claims that everytime I leave, Carter will start whining “mamamamama, mamamamama”. It’s so cute.

None of the other kids seemed to really notice when I was gone. They preferred to be with Mama T or Alfie. So it’s nice to have that change. It’s a good thing The Boyfriend and I are planning on having at least one more kid (a girl) sometime down the road, that way he can experience the whole Daddy’s baby thing.

The Boyfriend is beginning to seriously despise his job, and almost every single day, there’s a comment about going down to part time or looking for another job altogether. I feel bad for him, and I generally just feel bad. It’s not that he hates the job at all, it’s that he hates the time of the job. He hates that it takes him away from Carter and me and the kids, because when he’s not working, he’s sleeping so that he’s not tired for work.

I keep trying to tell him that to me, it’s not that big of a deal. The only times it bothers me is when I’m incredibly stressed out and overwhelmed, or when he sleeps most of his days off. I still think the biggest solver to the problem, would be some sort of routine. But we’ve had no luck creating, or sticking to, any of our big plans that we had at the beginning of this year.

The other day, The Boyfriend and I, for the first time in our lives, purchased stuff online. So around the 15th, we should be getting Mario Party 8 for the Wii! Plus two more things that you can read about on The XXX Rated Rantings. We’re super excited. Too bad I can’t drink yet, because Mario Party games make for fun drinking games 😉

I think starting next month (April WOO! It means it’s closer to summer!), I’m gonna start NaBloPoMo again. I hate that I post so little now. I think maybe it’d be fun to do NaBloPoMo on both the PG Rantings and The XXX Rated Rantings. I totally think I could manage it, so maybe that’s what I’ll do for April.

We definitely didn’t do as much cleaning as I hoped we would’ve during The Boyfriend’s holiday. So I’m really really hoping (and planning) that this week will be incredibly productive, and I’ll get a few things crossed off of my ever-growing checklist. Three big goals are the kitchen, the bathroom and my room. Wish me luck 😉

I’ve also been slacking massively on my workouts, so I think this week, the goal is to pick it back up and start working out again. Hopefully I’ll be able to stick to it.

Grumpy Face

Well I finally got more pictures up. It only took me forever! So I decided since I haven’t done it yet, I’m gonna add links to all my photo albums on Facebook (since it’s the only way for sure that you’ll get to see a bunch of pictures. I’d like to add them on here, but it takes too long!). I’ll probably also make a sidebar widget with the links, but not right now. So enjoy the pictures 😉

The Three Terrors

I am sweating so bad!! I just did a 20 minute workout on Your Shape! I gave up after I got to a side plank and my right arm kept snapping underneath my weight. I tried modifying it by putting one knee bent on the ground (still in perfect form), but it was getting too hard for me to hold myself up.

I was literally dripping with sweat during my workout. I was a little disappointed, because I put in that I wanted to strengthen my abs, and it seemed to give me alot more leg workouts. So it was alot of squats, which I guess is good, but my legs aren’t really in need of that much work.

One of these days, probably after we get more batteries now, I’ll take a picture of myself now, with my measurements and then a couple months from now, when I get on a workout routine, I’ll put another full body picture up with the change in measurements. That could potentially be really fun or really embarrassing.

It seems like my knee, back and neck are all going to be hindrances in me completing whatever fitness goal it is that I have, which I think right now is just overall toning. I don’t really think I have any weight to lose, I’m 5’7″ in 136 lbs, and I don’t think that that is that bad. But I do need to tone what I have, at the very least, get a little bit of definition.

Today, The Boyfriend, Kaiedyn, Carter and I all went up to The Boyfriend’s Sister’s place. It was her twins birthday party, and we didn’t have enough room in the car for Kenzie and Keirnan, so it was a nice little half-a-family outing. Kaeidyn got to decorate cookies and she played with tons of kids. Kenzie and Keirnan stayed home with Alfie, and I suppose they had a good time. No complaints from anyone, so it was all good.

It was nice to get out of the house. It’s beginning to sound like it happens alot more than it used to, yet not as much as it did during the summer. I can’t wait for this summer and all our walking. Hopefully, by summer, we’ll have a vehicle of our own and we can all go to some of our favourite places around town here. Maybe even eventually venture out of town.

I think as long as The Boyfriend is working graveyards, we’ve pretty much got two days out of the week to work with, and even that’s pushing it. I hate complaining about his job, because I know that it makes him feel horrible for having the job, even though he had it before we got together. It seriously drives me nuts though that he’s gotta sleep during the day when I’m most active, and he can’t sleep next to me, and then spending extra time together cuts into his sleeping.

Like today, because we went to the birthday party and he didn’t want to leave me yet, he’s only getting about two hours of sleep before heading back to work. It sucks, and I wish he didn’t have to go to work and that way he could just sleep next to me and everything would be fine.

Mama T’s still out at the Olympics and her boyfriend came back into town a couple days back. Goober, my brother, has been avoiding going back to Mama T’s house as much as possible. Today, we went to the birthday party and told Goober he couldn’t be here while Alfie was here, as usual. Told him to come back after 4 PM, though we were getting home at 3. We pull up right at 3, and there he is, standing in the middle of our yard with his huge stick, looking like the town creep. Upon being told he looks like a creep, he says “I know, it’s fun!”. Not so much fun for me!

So the kids got put to bed tonight, and the boys thought it would be hilarious to spill their sippy cups all over their bed. This was after I got mad at them for screaming at the top of their lungs, while The Boyfriend was in the room next to them trying to get his two hours of shuteye. When I saw the sippy cup mess, I gave all the kids “the look”, and now they are laying down quietly. It only took me 15 minutes, which is better than the usual 45 minutes to an hour. Unless The Boyfriend or Alfie deal with it. At bed time, they just don’t listen to me usually.

Carter has been constantly hungry, or so it seems to me, especially at night time. I think my breast milk might be slowing down and he’s not getting enough in the normal amount of time for feedings. We normally go for almost an hour and a half, jumping back and forth between right and left breasts. It’s becoming more and more difficult to stay determined to breastfeed. It’s just so all encompassing, and sometimes I don’t feel like doing it. Even though I know I have to. Hopefully he’ll start solids soon, so that at least I can take a break every once and awhile.

Well that’s pretty much my day in a nutshell. Now it’s time to relax on the couch, watch TV and feed my hungry, teething baby. My head hurts after my workout, so maybe I’ll take one or two tylenol and call it a night shortly after The Boyfriend leaves for work.

    What I Learnt:

Using ‘lists’ has always been a popular and effective technique among bloggers wanting to write content that gets spread from one person to the next. Just look at pages like the front page of Digg, TweetMeme and Delicious and you’ll see that many of the ‘hottest’ content on the web at any given time are written in this style.

8 Reasons Why List Posts are Powerful

    1. Lists are scannable
    2. Lists keep post succinct
    3. Lists look neat
    4. Lists can be comprehensive
    5. Lists are persuasive
    6. Lists can add to the ease of writing
    7. Lists go viral
    8. Lists break down the complicated

    Problogger Warns:

don’t go over the top with ‘list posts’. They can be incredibly powerful but on many blogs readers can become frustrated with them if that is all you do.

    Today’s Task

Today your task is to write a ‘list post’ on your blog.

    My Best Of 2009 List

    1. Carter Was Born!
      Carter's Birth
This year, we welcomed the sixth member of our family (and our fourth child), Carter Drayke. Even though, after having Keirnan, I said I wasn’t getting pregnant again until at least Kaeidyn was in school, back in January, I found out I was expecting again. The Boyfriend and I both knew before the test, but the confirmation seemed like a big slap in the face. The pregnancy was long, and even though in terms of health it was my best pregnancy yet, it was a hard pregnancy. Carter was my least complicated pregnancy, and I lasted until 4 days away from my original due date, which was October 28th (the doctors moved it further back to November 7th or 8th, because I was measuring small – which is the least abnormal thing for me!).

So October 24th, we welcomed our handsome man, who at 2 months old now, seems like he’s not even a baby anymore. Weighing in at a solid 12 lbs 2.5 oz., he’s holding his head up with ease and already starting to crawl. Definetely one of the best things to happen this year!

    2. Kaeidyn’s Officially a Big Girl!
      Kaeidyn's First Day
This year was a year of many milestones for my eldest. First, she started school. The day was epic for all of us. The first day, was an orientation that Alfie and I got to go to with her. For her, it was an amazing, exciting day. For me, it could’ve gone better. The day was a drop-in. When we went, we were the youngest parents there. The teacher had hardly acknowledged our existence. Looking back on it now, it was probably just because she was incredibly busy doing something else. At that time, I took it as she was ignoring us.

The next day was Kaeidyn’s first day completely by herself. We got there, and Kaeidyn ran up to the teacher and started talking to her. Again, it was probably just the teacher was incredibly busy, but she turned away from Kaeidyn and I took it as the teacher ignoring my kid. I walked out of the school bawling my eyes out (even though I said I wouldn’t cry when Kaeidyn started school!).

Of course, Alfie had to make it worse by telling me all the way home that “It’s okay”, secretly laughing to himself that I was being the irrational, mom-on-the-first-day-of-school cry baby, that I said I wouldn’t be. His own little “I told you so” dance.

Even though I’ve cried alot over the stuff that’s gone on at school with Kaeidyn, from Christmas Concerts to speech therapy, it’s one of the best things that happened this year for alot of reasons. I love how much I’ve learnt about her since she’s started school and how much she’s learnt. I love watching her get older and wiser and smarter with each passing school day.

Another really big milestone for Kaeidyn was losing her first tooth. She said one day her bottom front tooth hurt. Nothing seemed out of place. The next day, her tooth was loose. About three weeks later, after a short freak out about “it’ll hurt so bad!”, with the help of a paper towel, we pulled that loose tooth out.

The next day, she woke up to a loonie under her pillow, a missing tooth and a second loose tooth, which she lost about two weeks later. Now her adult teeth are coming in and she’s incredibly excited. Can’t wait for her to lose her top front teeth!

    3. This Summer
      Picture of Summer
This summer was by far my most favourite summer ever. I’m not normally one for the outdoors, preferring to be within the confines of my own home. For some reason, this summer, I never wanted to be in the house! This summer, not only did the kids and I all get tanned, but we did alot of fun stuff as a family. We went:

    4. Tons of Great Pictures
The Boyfriend and I got tons of great landscape pictures which we’ve been using as desktop backgrounds. Some of my favourite landscape pictures from this year include:

    5. Great Kids Movies
This year was a year with many great kids movies. They’re have probably been alot of years with great kids movies. Thankfully, I’ve had a computer all the other years, so I was never forced to watch kids movies. This year, it was a goal of mine to spend more time doing things with the kids. So this year, I watched a few kids movies with the kids and I loved every one of them. Maybe more than the kids did.Kaeidyn and I absolutely loved Tinkerbell and The Lost Treasure. We did the whole family movie night for this one, and while it was hard to keep the boys extremely interested in it, Kaeidyn, The Boyfriend and I were having a hoot and it was a seriously funny movie.

Bedtime Stories (the kids call it “Raining Gumballs”), is another one of our favourites for this year. The first couple of times, the kids watched it alone or with Alfie. I finally watched it, and seriously, one of the best Adam Sandler movies ever! It’s funny, it’s touching, it was exciting.

Another one that we all enjoyed this year was Monsters vs. Aliens. My favourite part of the movie is when “The Missing Link” says that it felt warmer, “That would be a very convenient truth”. I laughed hysterically through most of this movie. The best part was, even though the kids didn’t understand any of the references, they laughed through most of the movie too.

And even though it’s not a kids movie, one of our memorable movie moments was taking Kaeidyn and Kenzie to go see Transformers 2 at the big Galaxy Cinema. That was alot of fun and the movie was spectacular.
